Everything in life advances in time with technology, transport, home accessories and also fishing tackle. Companies are pushing the boundaries as we speak, trying to find the lightest carbon, create the strongest blanks and basically make some amazing bits of kit. Now this rod is at the pinnacle of rod building technology yes it retails at around £899 but as with everything in life you get what you pay for.

Lets get the tech specs of this beautiful beast out of the way first before I give my views on it. This rod weighs in at 420 grams super light weight and for the power it possesses its like a welterweight boxer going in with a light heavyweight…and doing the business!! Built out of 46 ton Japanese whisker carbon the blank is very strong but with the super sensitive mixed tip it is the ultimate in match angling technology, you can put 6oz and bait out effortlessly and see the bites from the smallest species at distance with ease. Build wise these rods come with FUJI Torzite Titanium guides as standard, these guides ooze class and are at the top of the pile for sexiness on a rod, being both very aesthetically pleasing and super strong and lightweight. The rod comes built with a Fuji reel seat making sure your reel is locked tightly in place and it comes in a cloth bag within a hard carry case making sure your rod will not be damaged in transport.

Now for my experiences with this amazing piece of kit…. I have had this rod for a year now and I love it, the first time I took it out of the bag I was slightly worried that it wouldn’t be up for more than 150g due to the tip sensitivity and how light it was. After using it a couple of times my confidence grew and I took it up to Lincolnshire after smooth hounds, smashing out 6oz and crab baits with no issue and the fight from the hounds on this rod is amazing. It can handle clean to mixed grounds with a tide flow that is not in excessive amounts with ease, I fish as low as 60g and maddies on it which this rod is perfect for, the super soft tip ensures the baits are not smashed on the cast and those flounders on the receiving end give awesome bites!! With the rod being so light and not massively long I love using it when touch ledgering as well, this rod is great for that as its so light you hardly realise you are holding the rod whilst waiting for the bass to smash the bait and scream off in the tide. Another thing I do enjoy doing with this rod is paring it up with braid!! The bite indication then increases massively and the excitement of seeing the tip wallop round from even the smallest of fish is brilliant and using braid I have had Undulate Rays well into double figures on this rod and the fight is truly amazing, super fun which is what I want from my fishing.

All in all this is a top end piece of tackle, anybody out there either looking for a rod that will set them above all others or wanting the Bugatti Veyron of the rod market just because they can afford it will do no wrong with this bit of kit. Yes its a lot of money but as stated before you get what you pay for and this is the top end of rod building technology really pushing the boundaries further for other companies to keep up. Pop into your local Grauvell dealer and ask them to have a look, once you do you will be converted I can assure you.
